Merrick

MerrickLocated within the Town of Hempstead, in Nassau County, New York, Merrick is a census-designated place and hamlet that connects to Long Island via the Long Island Rail Road. Described by most residents as " suburbia", this 10.5-square-mile village is one expressway exit from Jones beach and 35 miles from New York. The name "Merrick" comes from the term "Meroke", which was used by the Algonquian tribe previously indigenous to the area, which means "peaceful".
